The Moment A significant 1928 sailing yacht, mid-restoration, needed more than a design team. It needed someone to hold the entire project together: design intent, engineering, craftsmanship, budget, schedule and a shipyard full of moving parts. A design team who could keep it all pointed in the same direction.

The Move Verge Yacht Design is serving as Project Manager and Owner’s Representative for Principia’s complete restoration, in addition to leading design. That means owning the project end to end: representing the owner’s interests from design development through construction, commissioning and delivery; directing technical and naval architecture decisions; coordinating the shipyard, engineers, craftsmen and vendors; and managing schedule, budget and regulatory requirements so a historic sailing yacht’s character and craftsmanship come together with modern machinery, systems and safety requirements as one complete vessel.   • Owner’s representation and project management from design development through construction, commissioning and delivery.
  • Technical direction and naval architecture oversight, including arrangement development, structural considerations and systems integration.
  • Design development integrating exterior, interior, structural, mechanical, electrical and operational requirements into one complete yacht.
  • Preservation of historic character and craftsmanship alongside integration of modern machinery, systems and safety requirements.
  • Coordination with the shipyard, engineers, craftsmen, designers and specialty vendors.
  • Construction and restoration oversight across structural woodworking, hull and deck construction, interior development and systems installation.
  • Integrated scheduling, budget and cost management, tracking progress against forecasts, invoices and remaining work.
  • USCG, class and regulatory coordination balanced against design intent and intended use.
  • Design-to-production documentation and interior design for the fully restored vessel.

The Momentum Principia is one of the clearest examples of what Verge can do. Our role here goes well beyond producing drawings or managing a single design scope, we’re bridging the gap between design, engineering, craftsmanship, construction and ownership, the full effort it takes to bring a significant historic yacht back to life.

The Measure The measure of this role isn’t a single deliverable, it’s whether the owner’s vision, the technical requirements, the budget, the schedule and the construction effort all keep moving in the same direction. On a restoration this complicated, keeping that big picture aligned, decision after decision, is Verge’s job.
